I've had a search and tried some of the suggestions in the other threads but have got a bit stuck like my roof.
The roof clicks when closing and gets stuck in the same way as this video. I couldnt open the boot using the inside or outside button ( no power at all) so have pulled the latches from the inside.
I have taken the motor off and removed the gunge whilst the roof is closed but still have the problem. My first question is what do i grease? especially as the roof wont retract far.
On the few sliders the metal arms that have detached from the plastic and just hang low . It looks like the pop rivets have failed and on the other side the cross bar had come away from the plastic holder and will need replacing. How you you remove the sliders from the roof to fix it.
The the wiring on the boot windows has had a previous repair to a few wires. What colour wire should I check. I have looked at the f10 and f5 fuse and they seem ok. It might be my imagination but when I press the boot button there might be a faint click of a relay out front. Sorry for the essay but I hope it makes a bit of sense.

Hi ant8888
When you activate the roof control and the motor runs to open the roof does it stop opening but the motor keep running? or when the roof stops opening does the motor also stop?
This may help identify the issue.
Thanks for the video.ant8888 wrote:The roof clicks when closing and gets stuck in the same way as this video.
For grease, use a white lithium grease, like this on Amazon and you need to lubricate any parts that touch when they move. Any gears, hinges or slides all benefit from grease.ant8888 wrote:My first question is what do i grease? especially as the roof wont retract far.

Pop rivets don't generally fail. There is going to be an underlying issue that is causing the rivets to fail and this will also need to be repaired.ant8888 wrote:On the few sliders the metal arms that have detached from the plastic and just hang low . I would check the mechanical system because you have power to the roof and it does work part of the way to open.ant8888 wrote:The the wiring on the boot windows has had a previous repair to a few wires. thank you for the reply .. the roof doesnt click more like grind to a halt when retracting to just behind the front seats. When closing it gives the machine gun noise and the roof doesnt close any more.
I found a good web page describing the roof removal with the help of google translate. https://piege.epson.free.fr/capote/
Are there any places people recommend for getting the roof sliders?

I know the sound. Its the drive gear jumping the drive cables.ant8888 wrote:thank you for the reply .. the roof doesnt click more like grind to a halt when retracting to just behind the front seats. When closing it gives the machine gun noise and the roof doesnt close any more.
The motor turns and should drive the guide wires but if the roof is stuck the drive just jumps and gives that machine gun clicking. You may have worn out the drive on the motor and have a seized up roof.
The circled part is the gear

These are the drive cables I mention above
This is the gear wheel that drives those drive cables (part F)
Thanks, more information is usefulant8888 wrote:I found a good web page describing the roof removal with the help of google translate. https://piege.epson.free.fr/capote/

ebay is a good place for obscure parts, but a strip down, clean up and re-lube can help sliding parts and replace worn drives and gears.ant8888 wrote:Are there any places people recommend for getting the roof sliders?

further investigation does point to the roof being the cause of the boot problem. After greasing the rails and providing a helping hand to the roof I managed to retract it to the rear window.
This enabled the rear boot switch to work and open the window
However the motor / cable didnt want to pull the sliders back and the roof was caught in no mans land. After several attempts i managed to close the roof without a peak of daylight though it. My guess this is as far as it would go and not enough to enable the boot switch. Unless I can source some cables I think it will remain in this state for now.

Hi, it all started with my boot (glass - 2007 pluriel) not opening a few days ago and now my roof wont open either. It will only go back a few inches. The roof now doesn't open properly because i was following advice in pressing in the roof button to 'reset' the electrics to hopefully sort out the boot. before holding down the roof button to reset everything, i could hear the boot latch unlocking it just wouldn't open, now since pressing down this roof button i can't hear anything at all when pressing down on the boot button and also the roof now won't go back the full amount. Just wondering if anyone has found a method which definitely works without having to get too mechanical. I have spent hours looking online and have found limited information.
Thanks
Thanks
