Hi, I have a problem with my car.

I got in it and wouldn't start, and It will no longer lock, or open on the key.

Here the details -
It will not start on ignition.
I cant lock, or un-lock it using the key fob.

Lexi points to a problem with the alarm.
Permanent fault - Communication fault with the alarm ECU.
Permanent fault - Communication fault between the built in systems interface (BSI) and the ECUs on the COMFORT VAN.

I don't know if it has an Alarm ECU.

What I do know is that I don't have any interior sensors, and I have never heard it go off.

But I suspect that something must control the remote central locking, and immobilisation of the car.

It's similar to this post questions-about-a-citroen-c3-not-relate ... t2178.html

Hoping someone can help.

Thanks

I would go for the basics first and check all the fuses. You can get CAN/VAN and ECU faults up when fuses are blown because there is no communication.

Fuse box locations on the C3.

It could be any of them.

It's now saying that it is in ECO Mode.

That is why its easier to just check them all

This is to be expected. ECO mode is a low power mode to save the battery if you haven't started the car for a while and had the 'ignition' on. It will clear when its started.

Hi C3Car.

I checked all the fuses and cant see anything.

It clicks when I turn it over. But doesn't fire.

It looks like I am going to have to jump start it to get it going again.

I will provide an update asap.

Thanks

Hi midiman

Have you checked your battery?

Form what you've posted I think you could have either a flat, faulty or poorly connected battery.
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all the evidence and pretend you never tried

Hi,

I just can't put my finger on it.

I managed to get it push started earlier on and it ran like a dream.

But once I turned it off it went straight back to Eco Mode.

This makes me think that it could be the battery, but it's turning strongly and the dash lights are not dim.

You know the battery is low because it hardly makes a sounds and your dash lights just dim.

It's showing ECO Mode again and flashing on the battery light again.

I remember I had a similar issue like this when I first purchased the car and I changed the battery then. That was around 5 1/2 years ago, but the battery status is showing as green.

I don't know what to do, and I don't want to go replacing the battery if my one is fine, because I will be blowing £50 for nothing.

Thanks

Ah, I didn't reallise it was cranking well, I thought from this you meant is wasn't.

In that case, probably not battery related.

Also when you said 'jump start' did you mean 'bump' ie push as opposed to use electrical jump leads?

Click, click, click, click, click? when you turn the key and the engine doesn't turn over.

That's the solenoid, its due to a bad solenoid or poor battery voltage getting to the starter.

Sorry I meant bump start. i.e push.

I've not tried jump starting it with a set of leads.

But I don't think that it will start with a set of leads. Because it is clicking like C3Car says.
