Hi. I first noticed this issue back in July when the outside temperature hit 32 degrees, but that high temp might have been a red herring as after a month of being OK it happened again on a 300 mile drive last week and has stayed a problem since...

I drive a mile or so down the road and the blower fan and AC stop momentarily as I am driving along. The front windscreen wipers then activate a couple of times before switching themselves on and cannot be turned off (I had to pull the fuse out for these to prevent windscreen damage on the long drive home). The fan and AC turn off completely. The sidelights and dipped beams also switch themselves on and cannot be switched off, nor can I switch to high beam. I will then get 3 beeps and the dash will inform me that the ABS system is faulty for a few moments. This will go on for a couple of minutes then everything settles to just the lights and the wipers going by themselves. The car is totally driveable, indicators, brakes and steering working as normal. But when I stop, and switch off... the sidelight symbol stays on on the dash and I can't restart the engine - it dims the dashboard lights as if drawing current, but does not crank. I have to lock up and wait for the sidelight symbol to disappear - maybe 10 minutes - then I can restart. To slightly complicate things, even after it has 'reset' itself, if I unlock the doors but don't start the car within a minute or so, the sidelight symbol goes on and I have to lock the car and walk away again.. Is it buzzered?

Hi RBuxton

I would try a replacement COM2000 (from here) before writing the car off.

If its not the COM2000, its probably the BUS, and then, yes, buzzered if you have BUS problems

How to change the COM2000 (air bag & steering wheel removal) instructions are here.

Take your COM2000 out, check its numbers and find a matching part from the listings
