Hi
Is there a way I could put a separate fused switch on the dash to operate the wipers
Would this pass an mot
If so does anyone know how I would wire it up

I'd say yes and yes.
If all you wanted was a simple two speed function on the wipers then something like this switch link to ebay would do the job.
You'd have to isolate the existing wiring to the wiper motor and provide a fused supply to the new switch which you could pick up using a 'piggy back' fuse connector onto an existing fuse.
Complications would be if you wanted intermittent wipe, this could be added but not speed sensing as it should operate now and also if you want the wipers to work with the screen washers. Do your washers still work?

If at first you don't succeed, destroy all the evidence and pretend you never tried

The 16v 1.4 HDI has a Delphi ECU and the 8v 1.4 HDI has a Bosch or Siemens ECU.Odd-job wrote:Hi
I have a 2004 1.4hdi desire and I can get a engine ecu bsi ecu keys with barrel and transponder from a 2003 1.4hdi sx for £95 will this work
I think the sx is a 16 valve so different engine than the desire
Will it be a straight swap or would I still have to configure it with lexia
The only 1.4 engine that has the Delphi system is the 16v.

hi
no front washer not working either
so would the Delphi system in the 16v work in the 8v
I know the engine ecu and bsi ecu works because the bloke who is selling the parts to me has had the car running and all the switchers and dials all work (even WIPERS)
I just don't want to spend £95 if its not going to be a straight swap

No, the Delphi ecu system is not compatible with the Bosch injector. You need a matching bsi and ecu from an very similar donor for year and specifications.

Hi
Is there anyway I could get the 4 digit number from the vin number which is
VF7FC8HXB26815279
As I just can't find any secondhand ecu kits locally
Thank
Andrew

Hi Andrew, I don't know how, but you could have a search on the internet to see what comes up. It wouldn't be a very secure code if it was in the VIN, but, hey, you never knowOdd-job wrote:Hi

Wipers have suddenly started working again
Strange I know I was using the car on a dry day and the only space available to pack was up against a wall so had to climb out of passenger side and accidentally knocked the wipers and guess what they worked so I put the keys back in and tested and all worked perfectly and so far fingers crossed they still work
Thanks for everyone who helped with advice

The C3 does suffer from poor plug and socket connections over time, some connections more than others. You may have fixed the connection with all the disconnecting and reconnecting of parts

Hopefully the fault is fixed and never to return
