Definitely is the BSI as took one from a scrap car and fitted it and the wipers worked
I have tried downloading an update but it keeps asking me for a 4 digit code so stuck again
I know the car doesn't start with the other cars BSI in it as it is coded but are there other parts I could remove from the scrap car to make it start or is the software update my only option
Hi. Great work faulting it down to the BSI

Try the code given by C3Driver52.

If that fails, the options for donor parts is the BSI and break that down into its 2 parts , see this topic for BSI repair where the coding board stays with the car and the relay/power board is swapped from the donor.

If you don't separate the BSI, you will need the donor engine ECU, its matching BSI and the donors' key remote (and transponder) chips.

I don't think you can use the download by internet without a proper Lexia and a corresponding account. But that's not a problem for older cars because Diagbox/Lexia has earlier downloads built in.

Use 'Downloading' or 'Downloading by specific CD ROM'

But also take screen shots of your 'Identification' should you need to know that later.

Hi
Still can't update bsi using lexia
Going to buy secondhand ecu,bsi etc as cheaper than sending bsi away to be updated
Would the kit from a C3 1.6hdi 16v work or does it have to be from the same as what I have a C3 1.4hdi

You would get much better results with a almost identical match to the original.

The 1.6 HDi is quite different to the 1.4 HDi in ECU and BSI years. I would expect you to have to do a fair bit more configuring, but if you still don't have the confidential code (that should be supplied with the car, like the keys), you may come up against the same problem?

You will need the complete kit of engine ECU, BSI and the KEYS for it to start after the transplant.

Hi
I have a 2004 1.4hdi desire and I can get a engine ecu bsi ecu keys with barrel and transponder from a 2003 1.4hdi sx for £95 will this work
I think the sx is a 16 valve so different engine than the desire
Will it be a straight swap or would I still have to configure it with lexia

I had a 2005 1.4hdi SX and that was an 8 valve.
