Morning

I have a 2009 plate C3 (auto) and the windscreen wipers work on auto, 1st speed and 2nd speed. If I try to put them on the highest speed, they get stuck. Is it likely to be a fuse or motor issue? Or do I just need to get new wipers?

Any help greatly received!!

Thanks :)

Hi,
Sorry but I don't quite understand your question.
Are you saying the wipers work and then stop working? What do you mean by "stuck"? Do you need to stop the car and push them a bit to get them running again? Or just returning the wiper switch to another position re-starts them?
Do they stop in the same position every time or random points on the windscreen?
If it was a blown fuse then the wipers would just stop until the fuse was replaced.

My thinking is, if they work ok on 'Auto' then there is no problem with the wiper blades or the motor or the fuse.

If the fault occurs only under manual control of the stalks, then the stalk itself could be the issue.

The stalks are the COM2000 unit and these are well known to wear out and give problems.

What is involved in removing and replacing the COM2000 topic is here, so you can see what is involved in changing it.

The wipers work fine until I try them on high speed, then they just stop on random points of the windscreen.

If there was a problem with the control circuit or switching wouldn't the wipers to go back to the park position before they stopped?

Can you hear anything moving after the wipers stop, like a motor or other mechanical noise?

When the wipers stop, can you get them going again with a gentle push - mind your fingers if you try this!!!!

Could this be a mechanical issue, ie something come loose, broken gearing or maybe motor brushes just on the limit of wear which shows up on the highest setting?
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all the evidence and pretend you never tried
