Hi people,
My car has a whirring rattling noise sometimes at idle. If I blip the throttle or dip the clutch the noise normally disappears and stays gone.
It started doing several tens of thousands of miles ago but seems to be getting worse. I've changed the clutch about 30000 miles ago and rebuilt the gearbox at about 20000 miles as the input shaft bearing had gone. I replaced all the bearings. It started making this noise before the gearbox rebuild. I hoped it would have fixed it.
Any thoughts?

Hello
The TVD often fails around 100K on some of the diesels.
That can rattle and could cause a belt whirring,
