Hello fellow C3 owners.
I have a manual C3 from 2002, with 1.4 engine. The BSI board type F02-00) is water-damaged (not the relay part but the other one).
I have been researching how I can fix this. I can found the following options: (please correct me if I'm wrong)
  • Find a matching BSI, virginise and code
  • Fix the water damage part
  • Find a matching BSI, and code the ECU (IMMO OFF)
  • Replacing BSI, ECU, screen and keyreader
What is the preferred option? (I don't have access to Lexia yet)

p.s.
I have found one used BSI in my area (F01-00)
can someone tell me the difference between F02 and F01 ?
Regards
MKS

Hi

I would just get a kit of the keys, BSI and ecu from a same year, spec matching car and make any edits with lexia if it needs any further reconfiguration.

You can find them as kits, or find a donor car

AH boy! Where do I start?
If you just replace the BSI:
You cant use the old central locking transmitter in the keys. You will need brand new keys!
You will need to know the engine ECU PIN code.
If you get a "kit", the engine ECU, BSI, key transponders and key transmitters need to be matched (I.E. from the same car) and the engine ECU needs to suit the transmission. Manual engine ECU for manual transmission ETC. You can recycle the blades out of the old keys. The dash mileage may increase!
To my knowledge you can replace a BSI with a higher "F" number. I.E. replace a F01 with a F02 or F04, etc. But you may have trouble the other way around.
You can "virginize" the EEPROM but you cant use the old key transmitters for the central locking and you will need to know the PIN code for the engine ECU.

The easiest way is to replace the EEPROM on the "new" BSI with the EEPROM from the old BSI....or repair the water damage.
