Petrol gauge, temperature gauge and speedo sound like they are related to the COM2000 unit

But if you wanted to diagnose the faults before changing parts, all the tests you need to do are available in Lexia clone tool, which has a topic here .
You can add an avatar to your account - Avatar or change your vehicle details - Car Bio or even add a signature to your posts - Signature. But this is not all you can do in the User Control Panel :)

A second hand one for the same or earlier year will work, but the mileage will be matched to the highest one recorded.

If you get a later model one, you may need to update the BSI software to allow communication. I don't know what changes were made on which years, just be prepared to connect lexia to check communication.

update car has been ok for weeks now problem returned had it read on lexia faults are communication fault with multifunction screen ecu also air con ecu, control panel and comfort network plus clutch switch,i have friend with same car so i swoped bsi,ecu and key fob car started ok with the same faults so ruled out bsi, also theres a crackling noise coming from small speaker under dash on drivers side, only way to get ignition to go off is remove the shunt fuse.also i have noticed that the parking sensor light on the switch flashes even with car locked up.

There is a red light that is central on the dash that flashes when the car is locked.

Maybe a loose connection somewhere, with the crackling and the connection bus faults.

That is good going, need to find the leak too. Try here on ebay for the reverse light switch, its common to quite a few models so supply is plentiful.

Sorry, I was a bit confused as I wasn't aware that the 2002 models had parking sensors fitted.

There are a couple of different part number parking sensor ECUs fitted to the early C3 models. If you could attach photos of the stickers on the ECU box, it may help someone identify a cheaper replacement unit.
