Im not sure where my locking wheel nut key has gone, Ive searched all over and cant find it!, its normally in the spare recess in the boot, its the sort in the picture, can anyone please advise if the universal one in the second picture would work with this sort of nut and if so would it damage the locking nut, a new set of locking nuts is cheaper than a key, and you get the key with them so if I can use this universal tool to get them off ill just buy a new set with the key, Thanks

Hi

If you use the universal remover on your good locking wheel nuts you will be advised to replace them anyway. You have to assume they won't be up to the full spec of a wheel nut after that sort of treatment.

Have a really good look for the original locking get by removing the spare wheel from the car. Everything out. It will be a good time to check the spare for damage ;)

Ill get everything out tomorrow again, I really dont understand where its gone, I understand the importance of keeping it in the same place because without it the tyre is pointless, ive got everything out twice already but ill give it a third attempt.
Thanks.

Ok, the guy refused to sell me the key unless I could provide him with the key code to make sure it was an exact match which I couldnt do,

Tomorrow I am going to drill the bolts out , I see as they are spinning bolts the centres need to be drilled out , once the centres are drilled out I have 2 options , the first is to put a reverse threaded bolt in centre and tighten it to the left which from what ive seen is almost always successful or the other option is to use a purpose made thin edged socked with a reverse thread on to grip outside on nut,

If I use the later can anyone advise what socket size is needed ,

Thanks, Id appreciate any advice.

Does you local tyre shop have the special tool to remove damaged locking wheel nuts?

It is worth calling around if you can still drive the car to them if they have the tool.
