car has been off road for 6 months as i have been driving another vehicle. i have started it up and run the engine about once a month.
last month the engine light stayed on, then when i tried to start it a few weeks later the battery was u/s. could probably be coincidence as i knew the battery wasn't good.
anyway i got a code reader and it comes up with 1 fault. U0028 communication bus A. WTH is that?

Hi simonplatt

U faults are BUS faults, yours is U0028 and its a communication fault on BUS A.

If you replace the battery and test the alternator to check the voltage is right, you may be able to clear the code.

This is the wikipedia link to CAN BUS but there is also a VAN BUS on some early models.
