Hi jammy1972
You can replace the transponder chip on its own but the new one will need programming to the car. The coil reads the information from the chip but it's the cars ECU (BSI) where the code is interpreted.
If you swapped the parts from another car you'd need to change the BSI along with the keys (or at least the transponders) and other parts, the BSI would need to be from a similar vehicle or be reprogrammed. I don't think it's worth the effort and expense.
Does your key have remote unlocking buttons and do they still work?
And do you have a spare key?

If at first you don't succeed, destroy all the evidence and pretend you never tried

Its not expensive to do just the transponder chip an auto locksmith can do this or anyone with lexia tool and a spare transponder chip. Can you see the numbering on the broken transponder chip?Missing Lincs wrote:You can replace the transponder chip on its own but the new one will need programming to the car.
