Hi and welcome.
In case you have not seen it, I have a blurb over here:
tips-for-any-citroen-c3-f8/how-to-repla ... t3849.html
Pay particular attention to the two different types of top mounts. I.E. where the locating pins are located. Yours is a 2005 model and so it could be either.
Despite there being two locating holes in the chassis, the pins always go into the hole on the "outside" (closest hole to the wing).
Rotating the upper mounts (into the inner hole) might change the camber of the strut but I have not seen any documentation saying so. All the documentation I have read says outer hole only.

That's the correct top mount for your car but both of the mounts on your car are in the wrong spot!
Is it possible the previous owner/mechanic bought/installed the wrong mounts? I'm not sure but that's the only way "wrong" mounts might fit is into the inner holes!? Otherwise they might not fit into the shape of the mounting area in the guard (it's sort-of oval shaped). I've never tried to put the wrong mounts in the wrong way...funny that.
I have no idea why Citroen changed the position of the locating hole/pin. I guess to stop people from installing the mount the wrong way. But then why not just get rid of the the inner hole? It doesn't seem to do anything!
