hello

does anyone have a quick tip/guide how to connect a third party central lock module

reason to do this is puerly financial -
first I lost the main key with the fob in it so I used the spare to open the car , now the ignition barrel broke beyound repair so I purchased a used one from ebay
of course I could not link the fob to the bsi unit so I used the door lock to open the car ...and after a while this one is also dead not turning at all, tried wd40 with no succes .
the Citroen dealer quoted the replacemnt keyfob and computer programing to bsi at 200 eur that I'm not willing to spend for now.

the cheapest solution I found is a central lock module with 2 remotes , wich I allready ordered .
now I need any help you can offer on this matter .

thank you

Hi rimom,

I am not aware of any information on fitting alternative units for central locking to the C3. If you need a wiring diagram for the central locking on a C3 to connect your new module to the car, I suggest the Citroen C3 Haynes Manual (click here), its got the diagrams in the back pages.

Can you also add a link to the actual module you purchased please?

thank you for the quick reply

I bought the module and installed it . It works sometimes ..and sometimes it doesn't . I can hear the module pushing signals to the doors but somehow it won't lock until I push the lock button inside or sometimes I need to press unlock first then lock again on the remote an the works... I am not sure what am I doing wrong exactly
I installed the module in the drivers door and took some measurements on the wires ...
found out that I had a +12v continuous and then I probed the rest of the wires when I pushed the lock doors buttons . that gave me 2 wires that received 12v bursts .

using the provided diagram for the module I only needed these 2 wires +12v and ground .

found this on a topic
Citroen C3 central locking electrical test matrix
Citroen C3 central locking electrical test matrix
but I do not have any of that colours in my door wires

and this is the module schematic ..I used the right side for the positive front

any input is appreciated.

like another place to link the module ...

I would have placed it at the BSI module so you can control at least 2 if not 4/5 doors including the boot. The original locking is done by the BSI, so it would just be a question of removing the wires from the BSI plug and connect them the unit you purchased.

You may also find these wires at the BSI

The haynes manual (here) has the diagram you need to find which wire does what for the central locking which will be invaluable when doing these kind of modifications.

Just had a look at the central locking schematic and I think this is one where you're going to struggle to get the whole system working properly.

It looks like there are three control systems in the central locking:- lock, dead lock and unlock. A basic aftermarket central locking relay should be able to operate the lock and unlock and you can get relay with a timer to give a second lock pulse for the deadlocking. There are complications though, the child lock system is closely tied into the locking and also what about the tailgate? That needs a completely different supply regime.
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all the evidence and pretend you never tried

There is a new topic describing how to swap BSI relay boards over for fix some of the central locking faults, the ones that are cause by a faulty relay in the BSI module.
