Hi All,
I have bought a LHD 2006 C3 and driven it over to Spain, I bought it privately but noticed a knocking over bumps and at about 70mph juddering so I thought tracking maybe out.
Now I am no mechanic but everything works on the car and engine sounds sweet.
I am leaving the car in Spain but this is my issue.
I have noticed that the mounts above the suspension legs don't seem very safe (see photo) and when I checked the MOT failure sheet is mentions OSF suspension bush bonding excessive movement and OSN serious fluid leak.
Now my questions are:
1. Can I jack the car up and tighten the nut on the top of the car or do I need a garage to sort it.
2. Seeing the photo would it pass an MOT (8 weeks ago).
Now the guy I bought it from was no mechanic also and I take his word for it as I have all his receipts from Halfords and over the last few years he has spent a few grand on this car.
Thanks in advance
Nick

Hi nick0
That top mount looks completely knackered.
Knocking and banging would be right, along with some odd tyre wear.
A good one

If you re doing the top mount, you are also advised to do the springs if they are a bit old and even the strut itself, both sides need to match so if you do one side, you should do the other too.
The parts are available from Euro Car Parts (click here) and you have a discount code 'C3OWNER' to use at the checkout.

Maybe it didn't look like this 8 weeks ago? I don't know if it would have passed.nick0 wrote:Now my questions are:

No, it needs a new bushing and I wouldn't advise doing anything on the front springs or struts unless you know what you are doing.
