hi, i got my car repaired months ago when there was a problem with the steering wheel, as a result of the repair they said that the steering wheel wont lock anymore due to the aftermarket part that was used, they said everything will be as normal just wont lock anymore, its due its mot in a few days and never worried about it but ive been reading online that this is a mot fail no matter what and some people say it isnt, does anyone have any information, panicking a bit now, thank you

Hello

I don't think the steering lock with be checked on the MOT, so it won't fail on that.

What is a problem is that your insurance company would need to know that one of the major security items is defective or missing.

If they couldn't get the steering to lock , what else doesn't work with the inferior aftermarket parts used?

Thanks for the reply, everything else works as normal, just the steering wheel doesn’t lock when I turn the engine off, I just need the mot pass on Thursday as it’s getting traded in, just been worried about that as I’ve not been able to get real clarification on, even watched a YouTube video of a mot test and the guy never checked it so I hope it will be ok

Have you tried switching off the engine and removing the key then turn the steering till it locks?

I checked the MOT list for steering and there is no mention of the steering lock security being tested.

I have tried that yes but the wheel is able to turn quite a bit but still doesn’t lock, I recorded a video of it so I can show it on YouTube

Yes, that is not locking.

If you want it to lock, I think you know what to do.

Fit genuine Citroen parts and not the inadequate aftermarket ones?
