Hello,
the starter of my c3 1.4hdi does not start always when i turn the ignition key.
99% of the times it starts, 1% not.
And when it is in 'not start status', it does not start more.
But it is enought a light hammer blow on it, to unlock it.
I think there is a problem in the brushes, or dirt accumulated inside.
So i dismounted the starter from my car and i bought the brushes replacement kit.
Now i am going to dismount the starter to replace the brushes.
I would like not only replace the brushes, but also clean the inside of the starter, all parts that can be cleaned.
Do you know where i can find a guide to dismount all the starter parts?
My starter is a Valeo D6RA110.

Let me know!
Thanks!
Lodovico

I see that the right brush is worn out, and in abnormal position.
Do you think that the problem could be that?

Yes, worn out brushes will stop the starter from working.

Although brushes can be replaced and are designed to be replaced should they be the only things replaced?

The starter motor has a finite life and many parts in it wear as its used.

The biggest problem to fix the starter is the actual removing and replacing of it and you would only want to do this once.

It may be better to replace the whole starter with a new one that has a whole useful life ahead of it to avoid having to remove the starter again and again as other parts come to the end of their life?

You can find the correct starter motor from this list after on euro car parts (here), just enter your registration number or select the correct C3 model from the list.

Don't forget to use our forum discount code at the checkout C3OWNER for our forum discount gift ;)

True, but try to stack them :)

Nothing to loose and our code should persist after the 20% off ;)
