I have just passed my MOT, but one defect was the rear number plate light has broken and is slightly hanging.
I do not think the bulb that needs to be replaced, more the actual housing.
I read somewhere that you have to take off the plastic cover in the boot that it held in by clips.
Is this correct and removing this cover will it let me get to the bulb housing?

Hi
To be fair, it may have been quicker to pop the plastic in the boot off to see if you can get enough access to the number plate lamp housing.
But. yes, that sounds very reasonable remove the plastics behind the lamps. The plastics are just clipped into position and so are the number plate lamps.
The replacements are available here but the non LED versions are getting more difficult to find now. You may have to scroll a bit if you want OEM style incandescent lamp versions.
