Hi, I've had my 2003 C3 for 3 yrs now and this one problem has been annoying me.
The remote has had new buttons etc and a brand new duracell battery but after I resync it to the car it only works at a close range like right beside the door and usually stops working after a week or so. Any ideas?

Hi

It is probably not the key at fault.

Try the spare remote key to prove this (two faulty keys is very uncommon)

But it is more likely to be the COM2000 unit that houses the receiver is faulty.

You can get a second hand COM2000 on eBay but match it to yours as they made several different ones.

There are instructions for changing the COM2000 unit here.

Thanks for the quick response. My car only came with one remote key. I noticed that after the week or so once I remove and test the battery it is flat so it seems like the key is draining the battery quickly?
I have tried many batteries from different brands so it can't be a duff battery.

You can get your fob tested at an auto locksmith.

But if the key battery keeps actually going flat, then the key is no good and you need a new one, a used one won't be any good. It needs to be a new one.
