Hello.

I have a 2005 Pluriel.

The remote key are only working when the remote is very close to the steering column.
I suspect, that the aerial of the remote key receiver is broken. Does anyone know the location of the aerial?

Thank you for your help.

Hi

I think you will find the 'aerial' is a track on the circuit board of the com2000.

https://citroenc3owners.com/tips-for-an ... -t467.html there are pictures of the com2000 in the link.

Hello.

Thank you for your answer.

I do have a problem with the remote locking.
I replaced the batteries at both keys.
When the problem started I had a decreasing range for the remote keys over the period of a few weeks. Now they only working when held directly at the steering wheel.
I did research in this forum and therefore purchased and replaced the COM2000 with a second hand one. Unfortunately the remote keys are still not working as they supposed to. I am running out of ideas what it still can be. Replacing the unit again does not seem to be the best option to me the best option because second hand is hard to find and new ones are quite expensive, especially in Australia.

I would be very grateful for any tips and tricks how to fix the problem without spending a fortune. (or if I have to, having a certain degree of certainty that it will fix the problem)

Thank you for any help.

I am not sure there are an tips or tricks for this one.

Replace the COM2000 and replace the keys. Neither is particularly cheap.
You could find an auto locksmith that could test the keys for signal range? This could save buying keys.

There was some work done on a home brew key signal tester that could detect the key signal at various distances to be compared with a known good key (from a different C3). The topic for Plip Tester - How to make a remote locking fob tester is here.

I use a cheap RF frequency counter to test radio remotes (key remote fobs) - like this one.
They don't measure signal strength but if you put the remote next to the counter it will flash up the carrier frequency when a button is pressed (assuming the remote is working - so it' s a good go/no go test). You can then move the remote and meter apart to get an idea of range.
As the meter measures frequency, it will show if the carrier is tranmitting at the correct frequency (usually 433MHz in Europe). I have known faulty fobs to be way off on frequency which will dramatically reduce range if not stop the signal being received all together.
Like I say, it's not a signal strength measurement as such but for a tenner it will give an indication. If you get 6" separation and there's no signal, the remote has a problem!
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all the evidence and pretend you never tried
