The rear wiper has developed s fault. Doesn't operate from switch but works when the rear heated screen is turned on. It also moves when the central locking is operated. And sometimes the boot doesn't unlock. Any commons before I strip the loom.

I can't say about common but from the symptoms you describe I'd be looking for a broken/poor earth connection.
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all the evidence and pretend you never tried

The boot lock, rear demist and rear wiper use the same earth point, according to the haynes diagram for the C3.

Its going to be 6, 9 or 10, by the looks of the image :)

I know this is an old post, but this may help someone.

Spent a day tracing down the fault, causing the rear wiper to occasionally work when requested from the switch, but to often wipe when the central locking is used, and often not find its default position properly.

Cause was a broken ground wire in the boot door loom. On mine the whole boot door loom, is made from green & yellow wires (thanks Citroen for that, make s fault finding a doddle - Not!) . By cutting open a lot of the loom, I found that all the ground returns from the wiper motor, the number plate lights, the boot lock actuator, and heated rear window, all join in to one thick ground wire that runs through the rubber gator to a chassis ground point under the headlining, on the left hand side, at the top of the boot opening. This chassis ground is not mentioned at all in the Haynes manual. Maybe its because mine has a sunroof, but I doubt Citroen would make multiple boot looms for that.

Anyway, the actual break was in the boot gator which runs from the door to the chassis. There were a couple of places that the insulation had cracked and one where the wire had failed. My solution was to splice in, the same thickness of cable but to use a more flexible wire.

Hope this helps others.
