I reversed out of drive this morning and as I drove forward on the road I heard a clonking noise from rear end.I stopped and saw the o/s rear wheel was at an angle with the top of the tyre very close to the shock absorber.I reversed back down the road and drove back on to my drive. The wheel has now straightened and looks to be upright again. Please can anybody advise on what it can be.My car is a C3 2004 1.4 petrol, model Desire. Many thanks.

Loose wheel nuts?

See if the wheel nuts are tight if they are you'll have to jack up that rear side and see if the bearing has collapsed as C3car says.

The 1.4 has drum brakes at the rear and if you take the wheel off the drum will wobble around if you push it front-to -back and top-to-bottom.

Thanks for the replies guys.I feel like a complete idiot as when I checked the car the next day I noticed that the rear passenger side tyre was punctured, and with that side being down I presume that made the o/s/r wheel look distorted.Puncture repaired and car now driving ok.Sorry to have been a pain.

No worries mate. We've all been there.
