Hi, this is my first post. Just bought a 61 reg 1.6 hdi from a non-brand second hand dealer which has done 18000 miles. Essentially, we found the car was vibrating in the steering wheel at about 65 mph+ and therefore went to get the tracking done. I was shown the errors by the garage which showed the front toe were out and they corrected this. However the rear toe on the left wheel was out. I was advised that he wouldn't be able to adjust this due to being a solid rear axle, but said to not worry about it :s

Anyway, the vibrations have reduced slightly but it's still vibrating more than I would expect on a car of this age. Does anyone have any ideas please with regards to what could be causing the vibrations in the steering wheel/pedals and the negative toe on the rear wheel.

Thanks in advance :)

My first stop would have to get the wheels balanced for a vibrating at speed problem.

Vibrations are most probably due to unbalanced wheels I would go back to F1 Autocentres after booking an appointment online to get the wheels balanced.

Sloppy rear suspension bushes maybe, damaged wheel bearing possibly? not something you can 'adjust' like you can with the front track rod ends.

Even the ones that are over 10 years don't vibrate at 65+ MPH ;)

Thanks for the reply. I'll get the wheel balance done in the next couple of days and update if this sorts it out.
