Good day all. Recently purchased a 2005 C3 1.4hdi 16V. Load of problems to work through but getting there. It's an Exclusive model so has electric mirrors which of course don't work, triad new mirrors known to be good but still don't work. Tried another known good swtich from a donor vehicle but still don't work. So I go to the in-car fuse box, fuse 10 40a which covers the mirrors and heated rear screen which doesn't work. The fuse is ok but fitted a new one anyway. The red light on the rear screen switch lights up when pressed, so where do I go next? Any thoughts or idea's would be most welcome. Thanks in advance.

It could be that there is power to the demister but no earth return. You could check with a voltmeter, but I wouldn'y know where to probe.ken N wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2020 11:59 am Good day all. Thanks for the reply. I haven't checked the voltage yet, reason being it runs off the same fuse as the electric mirrors and as they don't work either I'm thinking the problem lies further back. I can live without the mirrors working but the rear screen is a bit of an issue especially this time of year

Check for a voltage to earth at the fuse you mentioned, F10 40A on the BSI.

Hi
Can you tell us if your car is a Mk1 or Mk2? 2005 was the change over point.
If you r car is a Mk1 the mirrors get power from fuse F22 in the BSI. If it's a Mk2, sorry, I don't have access to circuit diagrams.

It's the "fuse box" inside the glove box.
You said you had "a load of problems" with your car. Any other electrical problems, or things that don't work? They might be related to each other(?). Do you have any sort of test equipment? This will tell us what facilities you have to tackle the problem (if any).

Thanks for replying. The other problems with the car were engiine related which are now sorted. I bought an obd reader and a vacuum gauge to test the vac system which proved very worthwhile, I also have a digital multimeter of good quality. I'll check this other fuse hopefully this afternoon

The circuit diagram is pretty simple.
There's not too many potential points of failure.
The numbers with a 'V' after them (on the ECU's), EG. 2V, 16V refer to the number of pins (used or not) in that plug. The two letters refer to the colour of that plug, in French, EG. NR = noir =black, VE = vert = green and so on.
So F22 goes out of the BSI to the switch via pin 1 of the 16V GR plug. That means its pin 1 of the 16 pin grey plug. The wires are colour coded but the alpha-numeric characters you see on the wiring diagram are also printed on the wires in the car. They designate the system and wire number.
