Ok here what happen yesterday morning I notice that the car sidelight and are on when I turn the key in first position and when I turn on the car the beam are on as well. The car doesn't have auto light cosidered that never the light get on automatically in the last 10 yrs. also after I notice that I couldn't unlock the car from the fob so what I did open the car from driver side with the key and after I open the car the key would lock and unlock for few time before it stop working again. So my friend that used to work for AA have a diagnostic computer and checked if the bsi and other stuff were OK and look like everything was ok with no error. After a bit realised that when you touch the light stalk the light would go off and again but if pull it and hold it the light are off till leaving the stalk the light were on again( of course the switch was on off position) he think that the light stalk may be a short cut in there) anyway he reset the bsi and still same problem. After that I give few nudge on the stalk and looked like was fixed. This morning the car was locking and unlocking from the fob with no problem and light off in off position. Used the car a lot today and no problem till later when I turned the light on and again the problem. What you think is the problem? If it's the stalk I'm not that bother because the light stay off when you switch the car off.

Hi Sarico
All of the features that are giving problems are part of the stalk or COM2000 unit. They are known to wear over time and this is probably going to be your cause. If you wanted to be sure, then you would need Lexia tool to diagnose the fault further or just change the unit for a good one.Sarico wrote:If it's the stalk I'm not that bother because the light stay off when you switch the car off.

Thanks for the reply. I thought that was a problem more then the bsi or ecu at least that is cheaper. Do you think I can try to spray some contact cleaner where is the switch to see if that would help a bit. There is a way I can see if can be fix easily or just go for a new com 2000?

Cleaning may help but to do it properly you'll have to get at the COM2000 unit which is the bit where the stalks on the steering column attach.
While you're doing this I would just swap out for a known good unit. There are plenty of second hand ones on auction websites, it doesn't have to be a brand new part.

If at first you don't succeed, destroy all the evidence and pretend you never tried

Ok look like the problem is solved but not 100% a proper fix. I took out the cap from the light switch stalk and notice that was a roils pcb and the contact wasn't aligned and for some resin when the off contact or side light or beam light automatically the light are on when start the engine. Now I sort the contact and is all sort it but when I did that I couldn't put back the two Springs that allowed to lock in so now the switch spin loose and don't click. Is not a big problem because works now just need to be be carful not to touch it and accidentally put the light off. Does anyone how to put the spring back in?its a tricky one
