Hi all. My pluriel won't lock by remote or by using the key in the door lock. However it locks by the central locking button on the inside of the vehicle. The key just turns in the lock but doesn't actually lock the door. I only have one key operated lock that is in the passengers side door. I have tried a bsi reset and key responsibilities initialisation but it still doesn't work. Changed battery in key fob as well. Any ideas

Hello Gibbo300. The key should only turn a quarter of a turn in the lock, if you can turn it 360 degrees you will find the lock is broken and not making contact with the door solenoid.

You will need to change the lock. Have a look here on eBay for the lock part (including the key).

If it only turns a quarter and it feels like there is some resistance to turning then you probably have a damaged BSI

Thanks for the reply. Yes it is turning 360 degrees so a new barrel is needed then. Are they easy to fit. I have ordered a Haynes manual so hope that helps. Any ideas why the key doesn't operate the central locking ? Obviously the internals of the key may be stuffed but any other reasons you could think of? Does the remote central locking have ts own fuse ? But it does work from the internal dash mounted button .

If I fit a new lock barrel will this activate the central locking from the key or is central locking only activated by the remote control ?

No central locking from the key. It's something I've thought about adding but it's not easy with a C3. Central locking is controlled by the BSI so it's not as simple as adding a couple of wires and a switch, I gave up on the idea when I looked further into how it could be done.

The door key just gets you into the car if the car battery or remote battery go flat, or at least it should do.

I can lock the doors from the button on the dash but it won't lock from the key fob. The door won't lock with the key as the barrel must be broken. I have re initialised the key but it still doesn't work so I guess the key fob or receiver is faulty. Any other ideas ?

I think you may be right. If you know a friendly garage with an RF Fob Tester that's an easy way to see if you fob is working. It's a simple piece of kit that detects the radio signal, or not, from the fob when you press a button.

Testing on the car requires a Lexia tool, clones of which are available on various website. Using this tool and a computer you can access diagnosis data as a dealership would and see if the car is getting a signal from the fob.

Am I right in thinking that if the roof doesn't close properly then the central locking won't work ? It locks from the button inside on the dash but not the plip key

I don't know what you mean about the roof on a C3, but if it locks from the internal button and not the plip, it sounds like you have a faulty plip. Try the battery first, then inspect the switches, test them if you can or get someone to test the plip for you.

"plip" battery exhausted message topic may give you some help?

If I leave a door open and press the remote lock button, I get a beep from the car.

I am getting a signal from the key fob and I have tried re initialising the fob following the instructions seen on this forum. So I guess there's a problem elsewhere. Will lexia let me diagnose the fault ? If so where do I go to in lexia ? One other point. The car was like it when I got it so I have never had the plip locking working, so I guess it's possible it's not the right plip although obviously is starts the car. Unlikely I know but just a thought
I have only 1 key and no key code card. Can a key reprogramming locksmith sortt this out or is it a dealer only ? Also anyone know where the receiver for the plip signal is in the car, so I can check there's no visible damage and does it have its own dedicated fuse ?
