Hello everyone,

About a month ago, my Pluries started developing gearbox issues - crunching noises, rough running.. I got the mechanic to take the gear box off and its totally knackered. The drive end bearing has totally ruined and there is a good 4-5mm play in the drive shaft. Anyway, have been trying to source a "reconditioned" gearbox from various breakers but my mechanic cant seem to find the right one.

I assume this is the same gearbox as the standard C3 but according to my mechanic, the gear ratios are different and seem my pluriel gearbox seems to have ratios matching with 207's of the same year?

Would you have any information regarding this? My car is currently sitting on his ramp for almost two weeks now...

regards

P.S: How difficult is it to recondition one of these? I do maintenance on Large diesel engine generators, motors. Is this something I could attempt?

Hi jblpro150, Its just not worthwhile repairing a completely knackered gear box when there are plenty of not knackered ones available from written off cars.

As to recondition one yourself, it depends how deep you want to to go. Change the oil, do the seals, what else needs doing? where does it all end?

As for the ratios, I am sure someone else can have a look for you.

Do you have any numbers from the gearbox? Something stamped into the casing to identify the version and the ratios?

Its been a while as I have still been struggling with this gearbox. Apparently the Pluriels have a MA/50 (3) gearbox type & 20CQ04 Sequence which is completely different to other c3's and even the c2. The mechanic has tried four different boxes but none fit. My only option is to recondition the old one.
