Hi

I got the plip battery spent message and followed the steps in the posts of this site.

The battery worked but then the next time I started the engine, it wasn't working again.

I bought a new Duracell battery and tried again, which worked. Then the next time I went to the car it happened again.

I reset once more and it seemed to work for about two days, but every time I got into the car it showed the plip message.

Now it's not showing the message but the locking isn't working again.

Any ideas?

It can't be the fuses surely as it wouldn't work intermittently. Timpson's said the key fob is sending a signal, which makes it even more confusing.

It just seems to come and go.

Also, the radio is the one fitted with the car, as I read that can be a problem.

Hi

It sounds like a faulty plip.

It is either draining its battery or getting out of sync.

The two faults could both be connected

Either way, it does indicate a faulty plip and a replacement would need to come from Citroen.

The test for a faulty pip is to use the other plip. You should have two keys supplied with the C3 (don't buy one with only one key). And with luck the second key is also a remote locking key. This makes it easy to prove a car or key problem.

Thanks for your replies.

So I have two keys but the spare has never worked with the central locking.

This is the third battery I have tried but it seems to keep happening.

Is it that I should try one more, but reset it straight after I put it into the fob?

Just seems weird that three plips would all be broken, especially as two are a decent brand.

I am not saying the batteries are faulty.

You probably don't have 3 faulty batteries

But you probably do have two faulty plips (one never worked, one has now become faulty).

Ah, I've mistaken that plip meant battery.

So you think it may be the key itself.

I'll speak to the dealership and see how much it will cost for a new one.

Yes, key is the metal bit the goes into the ignition barrel and the plip is the remote lock/unlock part.

The dealership may also be able to test your plip more thoroughly than Thompsons.
