Hi All,
I have a '60 plate C3 Picasso with a Power Steering Fault; The steering is very stiff.
Was going to look at the connections for the Steering ECU and cannot find it. I was expecting it to be behind the battery with the main ECU is to the left of the battery when looking from the front to the back of the engine bay.
Can anybody help identify the location of the ECU please?

On the Picasso the EPAS ECU in attached to the motor on the rack, not behind the battery where it has been on all the others

Usually the connections are never a problem when it is behind the battery, well protected, good quality connectors. But this may be different with it so low down, near all the wet and salt from the road.
Power from the alternator can be a problem for the power steering ECU, so check the alternator output is good too.

Thanks for the response.
Where is a good place to get a C3 Picasso Workshop Manual showing the location please?
Also what would be the best way of checking the Alternator, or is it the wiring loom between the Alternator and the Battery that is of interest please?
The car hasn't been used much during lockdown in Covid here in the UK and even then only for very short journeys. I will pull the battery out and give it a full charge, to see if that helps.

I can pull up a picture of it if you like but really, it's attached to the motor of the steering rack. You can't miss it, but I bet it's almost impossible to get to.
Check the output of the alternator at the battery terminals with a volt meter when the engine is running, also under my load (wipers, lights, rear demister) high and low rpm to check it stays at a constant voltage.
A full charge or even having the battery tested would help. The cold weather can spell the end of a failing battery. Particularly with a lack of driving to keep it charged.

Hi,
Have charged the battery now and reinstalled it into the car. Tested under load at various RPMs and the battery voltage with the car running floated at 13.5v give or take 0.1v, so think that is all OK with the Alternator. Unfortunately the ePas is still not working. There seems to be a few part number variants on eBay and want to make sure I get the right one.
A picture of exactly where to look for the ePas ECU on a C3 Picasso would be most helpful please?
Kr,
James.

Hi
The ePAS ECU on the C3 Picasso is part of the steering rack. It is attached to the steering rack motor.

The ECU and motor pack are one unit. Luckily they can be removed from the rack and replacements are available here
