Wor Lass's Picasso has blown 2x driver's side dipped beam bulbs in less than a week. As the rubber bung for the same light unit was missing, I'm thinking this problem might have reared its ugly head before I bought the car. Any known issues with headlight bulbs? Anything particular I should be looking for?

TIA
Stuart.

Did you check the filaments to see if they were actually blown?
Corrosion on the plug might give you random results.
If the filaments were blown, is the lamp assembly secure? Anything that might impart shock to the assembly?
Could just be bad luck with the last bulb. The big thing that determines the lifespan of the bulb is the quality of manufacture.
If the alternator put out enough voltage to blow a halogen lamp, all of your electronics would be fried and you head lights would be really bright before they blew!
I had a regulator fail in an alternator and the alternator put out about 16-17 Volts. It nearly boiled the battery dry. It wasn't until I drove the car at night and noticed the lights seemed very bright that I checked it! Didn't blow the bulbs though.

Thanks for ^^^ that. I haven't checked the most recent blown bulb yet, but it's a Bosch, so it ought to be decent quality. I'll not have a chance to check the car until tomorrow now, but I'll bear all you've posted in mind.
