My wife's Picasso is in need of a new top hinge on the driver's door. I understand this is a common problem on PSA cars.

Any known snags I'm likely to hit doing the job, please? I'll be using a new hinge from a local Citroen parts supplier who has quoted me £65 all in for the hinge.

TIA
Stuart.

Hello

A two person job, one has the tools and one holds the door.

There are some pictures of the C3 Picasso door hinge off the car here but if you are buying the parts you can seem them first hand anyway.

Which part of the hinge has broken?

It's got no "check". I'm 99% certain the spring inside the quadrant-shaped canister is broken. TBH, I don't think the one on the front passenger door is long for this world, either, but that one can wait.

Thank you for your input.

Finally got 'round to replacing the hinge today. It's all good again. :)

I used a trolley jack with a rubber pad on to support the door, and to lower it slightly to allow the removal of the old hinge and insertion of the new one. I also used a very dis-interested wife to stop the door pivoting around the vertical axis of the bottom hinge. In spite of it being her car, and her that couldn't put-up with the lack of a check/brake on the door, she couldn't wait to get away - even though I only needed her assistance for 10mins max.

All-in-all it took about an hour, and the most awkward/time-consuming part was removing/replacing the top bolt on the A-pillar.
