I am trying to get better access to the fusebox in the glovebox compartment of my C3 Picasso (2011 model). The glovebox is similar to the one in the attached diagram. When I open the glovebox I can unclip the cover off the fuses and remover the cover completely (outlined in yellow below) and see the fuses buried under a tangle of wires.

However I can't get the glovebox to swing down far enough to get my hand in through the small Vee shaped gap behind the main glovebox cover. I need to be able get my hand in to access the fuses in order to be able to remove and replace one of them (I am fitting a dashcam, but know what I have to do once I can get in).

On the right hand side of the glovebox seems to be a flexible strap (not shown in picture) which is stopping it come out too far and dropping the contents on the floor. It is a soft strap with what seems to be a catch which I can flex past the stop, but it still doesn't come out far enough, and I cannot see what else is holding the glovebox in place.

I am sure there is an easy solution (e.g. hidden clip I am not aware of) and I am hoping someone can help me please.

Thank you.

Hi alanr

I had a look in the manual and there is no mention of any clips or disconnecting the strap

I don't have access to a picasso, but the manual says you remove that cover and reach in to the fuses using the special tool.
Access to tools
The extraction pliers and the spare fuse storage compartment are installed on the back of the dashboard fusebox cover.

For access to them:
unclip the cover by pulling on the side,
remove the cover completely,
remove the pliers.

Hi C3driver52, Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Yes my handbook says the same (except my tweezers have been missing since new - but I can overcome that). The picture you have uploaded seems to be from a different model to mine and seems to have better access with no glovebox cover, my model is as shown in bottom photo below. I have taken some photos this morning and annotated them in an attempt to illustrate the problem better.

I have taken a photo from the passengers side (top photo) where you can see a few of the fuses (unfortunately the one I need to get at is on the extreme left of the line of fuses where access is worst)

It is not clear from this photo, but everything to the right of the glovebox hinge is the back of the glovebox cover which reduces access. At the top of the opening there is approx 7 inches between the top of the glovebox and the dashboard, but I need an extra elbow half way up my forearm to be able to twist my hand in. Towards the fuses (hinge end) the gap reduces to less than 2 inches, and when I am holding pliers I am afraid my knuckles are wider than that. These are the reasons I need to either remove the glovebox cover, or at least get it to hinge open fully.

As I say, the glovebox cover is on a hinge across the bottom and there is a squeezable clip on the drivers side which seems to stop it hinging out too far. However if I squeeze the clip I can only get it to come a further quarter of an inch before something else stops it coming out further - (See middle photo taken from drivers side). The fuses are at the bottom of that jumble of wires near the glovebox hinge.

If anyone knows how to gain better access on this model of Picasso then I would be extremely grateful. Failing that, I will have to try and buy some strange specialist tools to get in there, or pay a garage a fortune to do what should be a simple "pull out and push in" job.
