Had a quick look, and couldn't see anything relating to this, apologies if I've missed it.

My passenger window switch has always been a bit erratic, never quite sure whether it wants to go up or down.

Now, it rarely seems to work. What I've noticed is that the switch is lit up, just as the drivers one is. However when I try and use it, the light goes out. so am assuming it's not the fuse.

Before I start taking things to bits, any ideas if it's likely to be a big issue, some dodgy motor or something, or could it be loose wiring?

It'd be nice to get it working :D

Hi Dawn

Swap the drivers switch for the passenger switch to see if the fault moves with the switch.

A fuse doesn't tend to be intermittent :)

This topic has some pictures that can help you get the switches out

That's why I didn't think it was the fuse. ;) If the light comes on, then power must be getting to it (sometimes) which a blown fuse wouldn't allow.

I'll get my trusty brother to have a look. I am not so good at these 'take it apart, swap it' kind of things. I knew *how* to change the blown brake light a while back, but I couldn't actually do it.... :o

Be careful in making an assumption. The light may be powered my the lighting circuit and the window motor by a separate circuit protected by a different fuse. This set-up is quite common in cars. The switches are illuminated when the driving lights come on but the circuit they switch is on all the time that the ignition or accessories is on.

My wiring diagram suggests that the switch illumination is from the same supply as the window motors. The switches light up when the ignition is on which backs this up. It also explains why the switch light goes out when the button is operated.
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all the evidence and pretend you never tried
