Hi,
My C3 has got an issue with the parcel shelf cords. I think they've gone a bit baggy/stretched, so when you open the boot, the shelf stays where it is, instead of being lifted.
I've asked eurocarparts but they don't stock them.

I asked at an official Citroen dealership - and they're apparently sold singularly (annoying - why?), and they're £10.32 each :o
That seems a bit much for a piece of string to me, so I was wondering - do any of you know if ones from another car might happen to fit? Trying a few different models of car online, I can find them for under £1 for some cars, but as the C3 is not as prevalent, it seems to be harder to get aftermarket parts.

Thanks for any tips you can offer.

Try a search on ebay for elasticated cord, I think its about 3mm diameter.

A bit of knot tying and ingenuity and I'm pretty sure your cords can be re-vitalised.

A well placed knot in each one did the trick for me.

I have recently got a new parcel shelf for my second hand C3 and have noticed the same thing.

Additional snag - the clips / bits that the top of the spring connects to.

These were missing when I got the car, so I have bought a pair online.

Somewhat similar to this Image

Only snag is, I can't get the bit in the middle to go in when I push / hit with hammer.

Are there different varieties?

These ones are black with a much flatter head. I don't think they are any thing special. The cord goes through the middle.

I just tied a knot in mine so they’re shorter than they’re meant to be. Not as smooth as new elastic cords but there’s plenty of other things wrong with the car so maybe it doesn’t need to be perfect.

I don't notice the knotted cords on mine any more. They seem to work as good as they did when the elastic worked.

I couldn't find any reasonably priced replacements, only dealer supplied so I bought some cord from ebay. I drilled out the old cord which seemed to be moulded/glued into the fixings and then threaded new, securing with a knot inside the existing plastic parts.

I have just purchased a 2007 C3 one of the parcel shelf cord retainers is missing, I mean the small ball type retainer on the rear hatch at the top, not the clips on the parcel shelf itself. anyone have a part number or can point me in the direction of a replacement??

Many thanks

Jason
