Hello,

As many others, I have installed a new stereo and seen some problems...
At first the car wouldn't start, and I had to reset the BSI.
Now it starts okay, and everything seems to be normal.

Except a 'fun' issue with the remote lock.
When I have been driving the car, then stops and get out, I can lock the car with the remote.
I can then unlock the car with the remote and lock it again with the remote.
All good.

If I go away for 30 minutes, then I can't unlock the car with the remote.
Manual unlock still works, and I can start the car.
After starting the car, I can again use the remote.

Apparently only the remote locking system is going to sleep.
I have read that the solution could be to reverse power pins 4 and 7 in the the ISO plug.
I haven't tried that.
I have tried dismounting the stereo completely, followed by a BSI reset.
That didn't help. :(

I have been searching the forum, but either I am searching the wrong words, or I am having a different problem than others?
Any suggestions to what I can do? :?:

Thanks in advance.

Off course I find another guy with the same issue, just a moment after I created the post.

...but apparently this old thread has no solution:

Hi, just refit the original stereo after reverting any wiring changes and see how it goes.

Quite often people neglect to update their posts, so no one gets any information. Most unhelpful.

I can't believe I didn't think of that myself...
It seems to be working.

I mounted the old stereo and did the BSI reset again BUT this time I also remembered to disconnect the active subwoofer.
Next step will be installing everything again, without killing the remote. ;)

Thanks a lot!

Concentrate on the ISO power plug and in particular PIN4 and PIN7 (the 2 power supply pins). These don't fit the standard spec for ISO and switching them over only works on low to moderately powered radio upgrades. You would always be better off with a fused 12v feed from the battery.

With a SUB, depending how its wired, you will need a separate fused 12v supply from the battery or some other decent supply and not the radio wiring.

Very strange.
The Pioneer stereo is actually NOT killing the remote.

I added the old stereo and the remote started working.
I swapped to the Pioneer stereo and the remote was still working.
Then I connected the SUB and the remote died. :?:

I have connected the power cable from the active SUB to fuse 7.
I was hoping the fuse for alarm and rain sensor would be a total analogue power source with no complications.

Do I REALLY have to pull a new cable from the battery?

I think you've answered your own question. Connecting your sub via a fuse in the BSI stops the locking working, from that I'd conclude you can't wire it like that.

The sub will benefit from a direct supply, just make sure the supply is fused near the battery and that the sub switches off when the radio goes off to avoid a flat battery.

I know...
I was just fishing for another fuse or wire inside the cabin, that would do the magic.
I'll install the extra cable... as soon as it stops freezing outside.
Thanks for all the help.

Let us know the results. Taking power from the BSI is risky as for a large part the BSI is a 'black box'. Not much detail is known about how it works, it has many functions that only come to light when someone does something out of the norm. It is possible the fuse you used has a current monitor to check the alarm function. A reading out of spec. might stop the car locking as the BSI thinks there's a fault. This is only a guess but it's just the sort of thing the BSI does. For the age and price level of the C3 it's got some pretty sophisticated electronics on board.
