After much faff I thought I,d sorted my daughterS C3,1.4 SX...

New discs and pads on the front today and I've got a sticking caliper, hmmmmm. Caliper off and stripped. Slight corrosion on the piston and body, all seals look ok so im going to use wet n dry and see how it goes.

Now problem..when in gear the passenger side appears to have a severe rumbling/grinding sound which I initially thought was the sticking caliper. WRONG. Now the calipers off the car and nothing is in contact with the disc area. The cars sitting on two axel stands and when in first gear, sat in the car it sounds like somethings terminal.

Question One is other than the wheel bearing what else could it be?

Question Two is any tips on removing the hub etc??? :?:

Have a look at C3 Front Disc Brakes Binding or Rubbing for the sticking caliper.

CV Joint?

That will have to be the C3 Haynes manual :) other than the nuts won't undo, that's all I can help with that one.

Hi nikroc
Anyway to tell which driveshaft I may need BEFORE I strip it out of car as I have been told it may be one of two...
You have to pick a side, and the option of 'ABS' or 'NO ABS'.

Have a look at euro car parts - here for a price, enter your registration number in the box or choose your car from the options.

There is often a surcharge on these things, so you get a partial refund when you return your worn shaft.

Drive shafts at Euro Car Parts for an early C3 petrol 1.4

Left (with ABS)- here

Right (with ABS) - here

Left (without ABS) - here

Right (without ABS) - here

Have you identified a faulty drive shaft/cv joint?

There are lots of C3 drive shafts on eBay and you can pick up the kit to repair the CV joints too.

Turned out to be a failed wheel bearing...£21.00 for a bearing and £11.00 to replace the gearbox oil that's now on my drive!
