Our C3 diesel air con motor haa a ringing noise coming from it?? engage aircon and it does quieten down but has the clutch cuts in and out so does the ringing sound!
1, How easy is it to replace the air con pump
2, Can the aircon clutch be serviced?
3, Can I bypass the aircon pump altogether?

Cheers

You will nee to have the system refrigerant recovered from the system before removing the compressor then seal the system and when the new compressor is fitted, have the system re-pressurised afterwards. Its more involved than just removing it and fitting a new one.

I don't know.

I am sure it is as some models don't have air conditioning fitted. The models without air-con have a different 'serpentine belt' - accessory drive belt and an extra idler pulley. This has to be the easiest option, but you loose the operation of the air-con.

The Citroen C3 air con compressor
The Citroen C3 air con compressor
The Citroen C3 A/C Compressor available NEW, the system should be drained and refilled professionally and not a DIY job.

The a/c clutch can often be removed from the compressor shaft and replaced or overhauled on most a/c systems. I dont see why the your Citroen would be any different.

The usual case is to manufacture some special tools to overcome the problem of getting the clutch separated from the compressor shaft.
