The gearbox on my daughters 1.4 sx c3 is a bit agricultural to say the least..ie rough. No problem thought I . After struggling to replace the oil on my drive I took it to a garage/friends.
Topped up with two different oils until it ran out of the filler/level plug.
Result is the gearbox is actually worse than before.

ANY ideas?.. thinking of draining and starting again but wondering what grade oil to use..and if theres a specific amount as opposed to overflow..make sense?? :?:

Correct oil for the gearbox on the petrol and diesels is Total BV 75W80 Transmission You will need 2 litres to bring the level to the fill point, as you did previously.

Tips for draining the oil out is to warm the gear box oil with a short drive before removing the drain plug.

Refilling is exactly 2 litres for all the older petrol and diesels with the exception of the 16v 1.4 which needs 1.8 litres.

Note:
Total BV has now been replaced with Total Transmission Gear 8 75W80. During the change over period of supply, both products will be available and are interchangeable.
