Hi all, wife had an accident with garage door opening, 🤫. My question is, can I remove the outer plastic covers (upper and lower) from the near side powered door mirror. Or would it be easier to replace the whole unit( which still works okay). I have already sourced a replacement unit albeit a different colour.
Thanks in advance

Hello Decking

I would change the whole unit.

You don't know what other plastics are broken in the mirror housing. It can save a lot of messing around.

Thanks for reply, I did see an exploded diagram on an earlier post , as most of the damage is to the section around the mirror glass, the lip of you like, I don’t think this part is separate, so I’ll replace the whole unit I have as suggested. 👍

If you get the opportunity to add some photos of the procedure here, that would be helpful for others in the same situation :)

I have now done the job and done a write up with pictures which might be of help to someone else, it’s a bit lengthy, which is the best way to post it?
