I have just started driving our old C3 and I have noticed a knocking at the front now and then. It is not constant and it appears to only come when I turn a sharp corner. Has anyone had this before or know what it could be? I am thinking more towards bushes.

The front anti-rolbar bushes and also the droplinks when loose or worn give a knocking at the front that sounds link there is a lot more movement then there actually is.
You can find the 'drop links' in this page at ECP
And the roll-bar bushes are here, made by Delphi on Amazon

One possible reason for this noise is a worn CV joint in one of the driveshafts. If the noise only appears when turining sharply in one direction, it could be a CV joint. If it appears when turning sharply in both directions, it could still be a CV joint, but it is much less likely as it would suggest the outer joints on both driveshafts are worn which is less likely to happen at the same time unless the vehicle has been properly neglected.
Other than that I would check all your suspension bits. If you can safely lift the car and get under it, give all the suspension bits (ball joints, anti-roll bar links, bushings) a little play with a small pry-bar (or large screwdriver) and check for excessive wear. Also a visual inspection to all rubber boots for any cracks/splits or wetness (implying a leak) could tell you whats causing the problem.
