Hi all. Not a serious problem but just an issue that I'm curious to find an answer for. :P

My C3 front wipers shudder as if there is little/no rain on the windscreen even when it has a complete covering of rain. My parents said that it could be the blades, as the rubbers had started to go hard.

So, both front wiper blades have got new wiper blades on but the drivers side one still shakes.

I lifted the drivers side wiper up and operated it while it's not touching the screen, and the arm still shakes slightly.

Any ideas what could cause this, and if it should be a concern for me?

Thanks

These mechanical things only tend to get worse. I would guess that the wiper linkage needs some lithium grease (try here) on all the bearings and points of contact including the motor.

The wiper linkage is below the wiper arms, you will need to remove some plastic to get to it.

Of course, changing the wiper blades regularly will do a better job of clearing the screen than worn out blades. I am very happy with these aero style wiper blades (upgrade). They fit 2002 (and on) C3, but look and behave like the blades fitted to the newer models and are much simpler to fit that 'traditional' blades.

Thanks for your quick response.

I wanted to get some of those ones, but when I bought the car there was a passenger side wiper blade, brand new, still in the box, sitting in the boot so I used that and got one for the drivers side also.

No problem, I have added a picture of the wiper linkage so you can see that there are lots of mechanical bits and any parts that touch each other need some grease.

I changed mine with the new flat blades by Bosch from eurocarparts and are no longer making noises. Last year I was using the original valeo but they made loads of noise even brand new!
