Had a strange thing happen with my indicators on my way home today. As I was indicating right to turn into my road, it sounded like my indicator wasn't working (the stalk was in position but made no noise, nor did the green arrow blink on and off). The same thing happened when I tried to indicate left to turn into my drive. Once I was off the road, I tested both and they seemed fine - I got out of the car and walked round it, all bulbs flashing OK on left and right. Hazards fine too. Obviously I don't know if the actual bulbs flashed or not when the problem occurred, as I was driving at the time. I turned the engine off and started the car again, and all was still fine. Obviously I will monitor it, but any ideas? Any thoughts on anything I should do now before it maybe becomes a bigger problem? Thanks in advance.
PS - it was very damp this morning, so might moisture have anything to do with it? But they'd worked fine for a half an hour or so before playing up just before I got home.

The COM2000 stalks usually give problems like this. You move the stalk but it doesn't register and the lights don't change.
Similar problems happen with the COM2000 in reverse where you don't touch the stalks and the lights come on by themselves.
Obviously it would be easier with two people to monitor this and intermittent is even more difficult to pin down. But COM2000 would be my first choice. When it becomes permanent, you can test with lexia (information topic).

Hello Arfur,
Many thanks for your reply. I guess I'll just have to see how it goes (and hope I don't get honked too much by drivers behind me if/when it happens again!). I neglected to say that I had a new battery put in a couple of weeks ago - I doubt it's of any relevance, but the more info the better!
I generally don't mind having a go at fixing the car, but not sure if I'd want to replace the COM2000 myself - may have to be one for the auto electrician.
If it recurs (as I'm sure it will), is resetting the BSI worth a go? I get a couple of other odd things happen every now and then - such as the radio can't find my USB stick (but then does next time I start the car), or the fully auto wind down of the window (as in, you don't have to keep your finger on the button, if that makes sense at all) sometimes doesn't work. Obviously, neither of these are as critical as the indicators, but it did make me wonder about resetting the BSI.
Thanks again,
Dazza.

Hi
Resetting the BSI won't fix it, but you can try it.
It won't do any harm and you can then cross it off the list.
Finding the right used COM2000 or paying for a new one is much more difficult than actually changing it.

OK, thanks Arfur. I won't bother with the BSI reset, then - plus I can never find the definitive set of instructions, and am always unsure if they refer to all years of C3 or not. Bit tricky to start my car through the open window, too, as it needs the brake pedal to be pressed while starting.
Also, I don't think getting the steering wheel off the new C3 is as straightforward as it was with the old one - it doesn't seem to have the 2 holes to release the springs. Ah well, I'll see how it goes...
Thanks again.
