Evening all, could anyone tell me where on my dash or clock the temp or ice symbol should appear. I have read the owners book that came with my 2003 cv3 1.4 desire and followed the instructions about pushing one of the buttons next to the clock to display temp. Not even when I first turn ignition is there any sign of it.I can't find it anywhere.Does it excist on this model/year? Or am I just being dense. Thanks in advance cos it's getting very cold and forwarned is forarmed!!!

Welcome to the forum gdgmanc3, the warning words 'ICE ALERT' just scroll across the screen when the car thinks its cold enough. If the temperature drops to near freezing, then the temperature is displayed in place of the time. Time or Temperature can be selected as the default.

On a 2002 Exclusive the display looks like this:
0c freezing citroen c3 dashboard display - temperature.
0c freezing citroen c3 dashboard display - temperature.
The ICE ALERT looks like this:

and scrolls several times when switching on the 'ignition'

This one shows 'ENGLISH' as the language and the TIME
C3 Dash Display - ENGLISH
C3 Dash Display - ENGLISH

Thanks for the quick response. But this morning it was -2 outside and there was nothing, nada;nowt; I'm baffled and a little concerned that it hasn't got any temp at all,in the book it says pushing one of the buttons either side of the clock will display the temp. It does not. Also when I altered the time /date it let me select language first then time /date but not temp? iIn this book it says it should but it didn't? Any Ideas? thanks again in advance

The sensor for outside temperature can be seen here on the drivers door mirror in this picture
Image

Check you have the sensor fitted, if its not fitted then you don't have the option for outside temperature display. If you have the sensor fitted, it may be faulty, or a BSI fault as there is no need to press any buttons when its
-2°c
outside to get the 'ICE ALERT' or even a temperature to show as it automatically overrides the time when its chilly.

The 'book' covers all the different options fitted to the cars and all the options may not apply to your model

If you don't have the sensor, then your car probably wasn't fitted with the option at the factory or someone had changed the mirror to the wrong type.

The owners manual explains all the options, even though your car may not have had them fitted in the factory.

I don't know, but others may, if that the 2003 Desire had an external temperature sensor?

Should there be some kind of temp visual somewhere? Should I just get it checked by a garage and live with the cost(it will break my heart to do this)?Again ten thousand thanks for your guidance and support.

I will put it this way.

Not all of the Citroen C3 models produced has an outside temperature indicator. But all of the manuals did show instructions on how to operate the display if it was fitted.

You said:

Which identifies the specifications of the car. My suggestion would be to contact Citroen and ask if a 2003 C3 1.4 Desire has an outside temperature sensor. If it did, then you have the wrong mirror fitted, if it didn't have an outside temperature sensor, then you don't have one - even if the book hints that you may have one, you don't (no outside temperature sensor, no ice alert, no temperature display).

You can email Citroen using this form:
https://info.citroen.co.uk/contact-us/ge ... tact-form/

Give them the reg and all the details they ask for and hopefully they will know if the 2003 Desire has an outside temperature sensor.
