I've had my C3 MK1 2002 for a couple of months, I'm the second owner, and want to change the rear brake shoes.
I've got the brake shoes but need someone who can tell me what the size the central wheel nut is in mm underneath the cap in the centre of the rear brake drum?
I need to both order two new ones and the socket size I'll need to remove the old ones and replace with the new ones.
Hoping someone can help, many thanks,
Roger

Hello
You can't beat measuring or trying a socket on the nuts. You never know what the previous owners have done and fitted the wrong parts.
The official Citroen/PSA replacement hub nut is Part Number 6935.41 which should be replaced each time it is removed. Not a big problem because the cost of these special hub nuts is quite low and you only need two of them (one on each side)
The socket size for the hub nuts is 32mm
This Draper 35521 Expert Hub Nut Socket with a 1/2" Square Drive would be a suitable socket when attached to a long breaker bar with 1/2" drive to get the things off.

Many thanks for your comprehensive and thorough answer to my query.
Happily I'm the second owner and bought my C3 off the original owner with a full service history so it will no doubt have the right nuts on.
I actually managed to find a parts dealer in Birmingham and bought 2 nuts for £4.94 including VAT.
I already have the brake shoes and new springs and fittings for £28 and a local hard wear store had a 32mm 1/2" drive socket for £5.
I also have a torque wrench that goes to 240nM as someone had already posted that the torque setting for these is 203nM.
Looking forward to getting stuck in on Wednesday this week weather permitting.
Many many thanks again for your help and all the best to you sir!

I would advise you to use a 'breaker bar' to undo the hub nut and never a torque wrench.
The torque wrench is ideal for tightening the nut to the specified torque, but I can be very sure that the hub nut will need way more torque to undo it than it takes to do it up.
The 'breaker bar' has a virtually unlimited torque but the delicate torque wrench can be damaged beyond use if more than its torque limit is applied.

Many thanks for the tip but I was already there, possibly my reply to your answer to my question was ambiguous.Citroen-Driver wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 4:50 pm I would advise you to use a 'breaker bar' to undo the hub nut and never a torque wrench.
I simply meant I now have all that I need to proceed with the work.
