Hi, (C3 registered 10/2002 1.1l old shape)

To change the oil I need to remove the undertray. A silly question, how do the clips come off - is it like a quarter turn anti clockwise, or do they prise off? Also, would you recommend a new sump plug on each oil change?

Thanks in advance guys.

Hi justintime

Yes, as you thought. A quarter turn and gravity does the rest.

I didn't need a new sump plug or even the copper sump plug washer, but it wouldn't do any harm if you did.

C3CAR, thank you for your quick reply. That's very helpful, I can go ahead with confidence.

Doh... it doesn't have an undertray! I assumed it would have. Is there a way to check whether it should have - I read that some versons of the C3 were never fitted with one? By the way the wheel liners seem secure enough.

I suppose you could look at the underside to see if there is the other part of the clip still in place. This could give you a clue that the under tray is missing, rather than never fitted in the factory.

The picture is not great, but the arrow points to one quite rusty female part of the clips.

These are the clips, both male and female parts when new

C3CAR, once again - thank you. Those pics and link are very helpful. I'll take a look under the car tomorrow and report back.

C3CAR - in fact there's no evidence of the clip retainers, so I think it's one that wasn't factory fitted with an undertray.

Thanks again for your valued friendly and helpful advice, it's much appreciated.
