Can you not see any marking on the lamp itself. I was only aware of one replacement type for all the little lamps like that and they are These things (link)

hi, thanks for the reply, well i have gone and been a total idiot and put the whole think back together with the old bulbs in, i will take them out again tomorrow and note the number on the back (i think it may be 284 but im not sure), i remember seeing another post saying those standard 286 wedge bulbs are too long (https://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... p?p=149092)

it was a bloody hard job as my aftermarket radio wont come out of the damn cage so i cut my hands up trying to get in to the bulbs but i think i have figured out how to do it now, will let you know.

ok so i have figured it all out today, i got the bulbs out of the back again, went down to the auto parts store on the industrial estate and got ripped off at £4 for 2 bulbs and put the in fine, worked perfectly, however, i heard that these bulbs were 286 wedge bulbs which have been soldered into this black plastic holder and therefore you cant just buy the bulbs seperate and whack them into the holder, but after some fiddling with the blown bulb i have managed to free the bulb from the holder and now i feel pissed off i paid so much for the damn bulbs, anyway i thought i would show a picture of the bulbs just to help other people with the same problem out, but please don't make my mistake, just buy 10 bulbs for £1.37 off amazon like arfur dent says and pull the old bulb out of the holder, it takes some force, but it can be done.

Hello samstagmoonyham

Thanks for posting the pictures, very useful.

At least you didn't buy new bulbs and holders or worse still get a garage or dealer to fit them. On the scale of things, £4 isn't too bad :D
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all the evidence and pretend you never tried
