Hi baden87
Circled in red as seen on a 2002 C3
Access from the drivers footwell on the 2002-2009 models, so yours will be similar, but it may be in the passenger footwell because yours is an A51 model C3. Not the easiest to get to, but often held by only one screw which helps
Number 5 is the heater resistor on an A51 C3 (post 2009 models with the new shape)
With your unit removed, compare the style and plugs with each one below to pick the right one. You can often find more pictures and fitting information in the links. Fits Pluriel and C3 models.

Citroen C3 Blower Resistor 6441.Q7 found on C3 without A/C or Climate, but also found on some models with basic A/C (depends on year).

Citroen C3 Blower Resistor 6450.JP note the circular mounting base.

Citroen C3 Blower Resistor 6441.Q8 for basic A/C (not climate control) C3, C3 II and Pluriel models.

Citroen C3 Blower Resistor 6441.L2 climate control models, but can be affected by RPO (year).
C3 A51 Models (New Shape post 2009)

Citroen C3 A51 Blower Resistor 6441.S7 Climate Control models

Citroen C3 A51 Blower Resistor 6441.CT without A/C or Climate Control and some models with A/C but not Climate Control.

If yours is an A51 there is a diagram above that C3driver52 put up to show its location.C3driver52 wrote:Number 5 is the heater resistor on an A51 C3 (post 2009 models with the new shape)
If yours is a C3 II then its in the photograph above.

Hi Guys,
My wifes car is showing similar problems (C3 1.4 Diesel 2011), i have tried looking for the resistor pack but can not find it unless a lot more needs removing.
I removed the cover on the driverside and did not see the pack after truing to get my head in there with a torch.
Basically everything was great last week and this week when you turn the ventialtion speed knob, in some positions it is on and some it is off, so if i turn it to '0' or off sometimes the vent is off and sometimes it is on, when i move to 1 i could go off or remain on and so on up to maximum. The other thing is when it is on the speed is the same in what ever position is it in. when i turn it back it will be randomly off or on in each position.
I wasn't sure if it was the resistor pack as i believe this would have the symptoms of only working on the highest setting when 12v is applied to the motor, so i am thinking it is either the controller or if it electronically controlled it could be some computer, i have tried looking for a Haynes manual or something similar but they only seem to go up to 2009, and everthing on youtube seems to be for the older model or a pegeout??
should i just bite the bullet and take it into the citreon garage.
by way of info i am not a mechanic but i am an electronics engineer, so know my way around any circuit diagrams and digital multi-meters.
any advice would be welcome.
Cheers
Stu

This is the heater resistor diagram for the post 2009 cars
It doesn't look very easy to get to.Number 5 is the heater resistor on an A51 C3 (post 2009 models with the new shape)

I have the C3 1.4 8v hdi mk1 with basic aircon. The fan has 4 settings. The blower fan works on speeds 3 and 4 but does not work on speeds 1 and 2. The resister looks and tests OK. That is I get continuity between the first and last pins. The middle 2 don't look like they go anywhere. There is a aircon gas leak in the evaporator and therefore won't keep pressure longer than a day or so. (that's another problem, but mentioned in case related.)
Any suggestions or advice...
Thanks Jimmy

Hi Jimmy, change the resistor pack and if its not the pack, then delve deeper and into the switch.Jimmy Sanby wrote:I have the C3 1.4 8v hdi mk1 with basic aircon. The fan has 4 settings. If there are 4 or more wires on the resistor plug, you should have resistances on each of the pins of the resistor pack.
This is melted heater control switch on the C3 which can happen.
It would be worth fitting a new cabin filter from (here) if yours is blocked and you fit a new resistor pack.

Hi folks. Yes I have the same problem on a C3 '02 SX. Thanks for all the great information so far. I have changed the resistor pack and also checked the blower fuse under the bonnet which is fine. However, the fan still does not operate.
But also only half the heater control panel lights up which I have attached. I also noticed the manual aircon light (left) no longer comes on, however, when the fan stopped working I am sure it did. The rear heater button on the right still works!
Have I possibly missed a fuse? Would there be a fuse in the glovebox that could cause this?
Please help guys, it's bloody freezing out there
