Hi I've jist bought an oldish c3 it's a.1.4hdi diesel 56 plate. The head lights are coming on randomly during a journey, it's day light and it doesn't have automatic lights. Has anyone else had this problem? I've only had the car two days bought through a garage. The aircon always turns itself on when I start the car too, any advice is appreciated

Hi jowears, I know the automatic air conditioning (climate control) will come on automatically at starting the engine depending on certain factors, which I would imagine come from the 2 temperature sensors (internal and external). One is in the centre console and the other in the wing mirror. Its not common for this to happen for me though.

If you are sure you don't have automatic headlights, then the sensor being faulty won't be your answer. Headlight control is by the COM2000 (steering wheel stalks computer) which is know to give random engaging of lights when they go bad.

These sort of computer control input faults can be diagnosed with the lexia clone tool and plenty of patience.

This may be a feature, not a fault.

On my 2004 Pluriel there is an auto function that turns on the headlights in overcast conditions, at night, or if the wipers are on.

The feature is turned on (or off) by turning the ignition key on, and pressing he button on the end of the indicator stalk until a tone sounds.

Found out by accident reading the handbook - sacred bleu!
