I have just bought a C3 2006 with 50000 miles. Went out for a drive and it kept saying fault on the fog light. Didn't have lights on and then tonight after it had gone dark I noticed the headlight adjuster light was on even though it was locked and everything was locked. Can anybody help. Thanks

Hi turtle59cdo
Is there any evidence of water in the headlights?

The link above has pictures of the headlamp adjustment motor and shows how it can be affected by water in the headlights.

No signs of any water in the headlights.

I've also had this happen, and wondered if anyone had any bright ideas. (this and a post on another forum which didn't get any answers were the only two references to this I could find!)
Not sure if it's been the whole time I've had the car (only a few weeks) or whether it started after I had to change a headlamp bulb last week - only noticed one night over the weekend.
No sign of water inside the headlamps.
Have done a temporary fix by taking the relevant fuse out (it's one of the ones in the secret fuse box next to the bonnet release handle) as i don't use the car every day, and I don't want the battery to go flat, but I don't really want to do this every time I use the car...
I also get an occasional bleeping when I take the the key out (think this might be supposed to mean I've left headlamps on which I haven't.)
Hmph.

Its very common to have water in the headlights because the waterproof cover is often fitted incorrectly, particularly by first time fitters.Catford_Cat wrote:No sign of water inside the headlamps.
I would say change the headlights but if you want to diagnose before doing that you could disconnect the headlight wiring to see if the fault clears.

Just thought I'd update -
It appears that the headlamp adjuster light goes off a minute or two after you lock the car - a few things (including, for reasons equally obscure, the electric window buttons) also stay illuminated for a short while before they go off...
Not quite sure I can see the point of that!

My adjuster light also stays on. I also have a missing cover on the back of my drivers side headlight which leads to it filling with water. Had no idea these 2 issues could be related!
