Hello,
My passenger side headlights adjustment motor is constantly on when head lights are on. I have tried nothing the manual adjust with a 6 Allen key to see if I could realign the gear inside, no luck there.

Is there anyway I can turn off the adjustment so that it doesn’t work on that head light or a way to fix the mechanism inside.

Thank you Glenn

You can't fix the motor assembly inside :( Replacing the complete unit is the only way for repair (try ebay for C3 headlights)

Good question,

Haynes shows the headlight adjuster switch in the car sends power to the adjustment motors...

Try disconnecting the switch inside the car :D

Thank you I will try to disconnect the thumb roller tomorrow and then manually adjust the head light. Will not having the ability to adjust the headlights affect the MOT or will having them set to a certain height be fine.

Thank you Glenn

As far as I know, having them set correctly will pass.

Hello I tried disconnecting the adjustment roller and I was able to it’s pretty easy with removal of the trim but when I turn the headlights on using the stalk I still get the horrible whining noise so I’m not to sure on where to go next about this

Thank you Glenn

The headlights can become saturate with water that shorts out and then corrodes the levelling motor. The water gets in because the headlight cover is not refitted correctly to make a good seal.

You could try drying out the water to stop the short?

Are you sure its coming from the headlight?

Tips for water in the Headlights topic.

I did have water in the head light but I’ve cleared that so maybe it is a short and I can hear it when I turn the headlights on and I’ve had them on and looked under the bonnet and it is from there.

Thank you Glenn
